  RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:

1.    Data Dissemination in Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (2005- present): The specific goal of this project is to provide a data dissemination framework for VANET. We address three intertwined issues: (1) design and evaluate three push-based data dissemination schemes. (2) design and evaluate pull-based data dissemination protocols suitable for sparsely connected VANET, and propose solutions to combine push/pull-based techniques to reduce the data access delay and bandwidth consumption; (3) infrastructure support (e.g., wireless relay, infostations) is used to further improve the system performance.

2.    Consistency Maintenance for Cooperative Caching in Mobile Peer to Peer Networks (2004-2005): sponsored by Hong Kong Polytechnic University Gran, Hong Kong. Our goal and my responsibility are to design an effective consistency maintenance strategy for cooperative caching in mobile p2p networks.

3.    Research on Key Techniques on Running, Managing and Scheduling of Application Servers (2002-2005): sponsored by National 863 High-Tech Key Project, China. Our goal is to (1) study the techniques on running, managing and scheduling of web-based application servers; (2) provide the functions of organizing, managing and optimizing the servers effectively; and (3) set up a distributed application-servers platform with high scalability and availability to facilitate the development of web-based services and other applications. My responsibility is to (1) study the QoS characters of the assumed applications of our platform and the whole framework of our platform with application servers and (2) design and implement the admission control module.

4.     Large-Scale Scalable Distributed Multimedia Servers (2000-2002): sponsored by National 863 High- Tech Key Project, China. It includes techniques of multimedia storage system, multi-server and network supporting streaming media. My responsibility is to design and implement the admission control module for the distributed multimedia system to balance the performance of the system and the QoS of clients.
