I received B.S. degree in Computer Science in July 2002, from Peking University, China. I was a member of Computer Networks and Distributed Systems Laboratory of Peking University. In fall 2003, I entered the graduate program at CSE department in Penn State University. I am a member of the Mobile Computing and Networking Laboratory (MCN), which is a part of the Networking and Security Research Center. I am currently advised by Dr. Guohong Cao.

Research

My recent research interests include:

Collaborative Caching for Data Access in Mobile P2P Networks

We design and implement a novel cooperative caching scheme for improving P2P data access in wireless ad hoc networks and mesh networks. Our solution is to let nodes cache the data or the path of the data to reduce query delays and improve data accessibility. We evaluate the system performance in terms of communication latency, bandwidth consumption and communication error rate by prototype implementation and simulations. This work has been published in ICDCS 2008.

Data Dissemination in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

We design a data dissemination framework for vehicular ad hoc networks. Our solution combines both pull and push based approaches. The pull-based approach adopts the idea of "store and forward", and optimizes the relay path to handle disconnections in the network; the push-based approach uses reliable multi-hop directional broadcast and localized data buffering techniques to improve dissemination throughput and capacity. This work has been published in Infocom 06', VANET 07', VANET 08' TVT 07', TVT 08', PerCom 08'.
