This paper analyzes the power consumption patterns and the energy efficiency of flash-based SSDs using micro-benchmarks for raw I/Os as well as macro-benchmarks with two different file systems for real-world workloads. We believe that this research will help discover more energy-efficient ways of using Flash-based SSDs.
