Application to the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department

How to apply for admission to graduate school at Penn State

How to apply:

 

The process of applying for admission to graduate school at Penn State requires the following application materials, some of which are submitted to The Graduate School (see below).  The only materials required to be sent to the department are two official transcripts and visa documentation (if required).  All other required application material should be electronically submitted via the Graduate School electronic application system.  Deadlines for applying are as follows:  Spring 2010 - August 31, 2009,
Fall 2010 - December 15, 2009.

  1. An official GRADUATE SCHOOL ELECTRONIC APPLICATION.
  2. Application fee (See graduate school website).
  3. Official transcripts (two (2) copies sent via postal mail).*
  4. Application for Visa Document (International Students Only).
  5. Standardized test scores (General GRE, Subject Test GRE recommended, TOEFL, and TSE). Please refer to Admissions Requirements.
  6. Supplemental Graduate Application Form
  7. Assistantship/Fellowship application (optional) - (PDF - Fill in and Print Version) or (PDF - Print Version).  (UPLOAD TO THE GRADUATE SCHOOL ELECTRONIC APPLICATION)
  8. Three letters of recommendation - (PDF - Print Version) or (Postscript Version). (UPLOAD TO THE GRADUATE SCHOOL ELECTRONIC APPLICATION)
  9. Statement of purpose. (UPLOAD TO THE GRADUATE SCHOOL ELECTRONIC APPLICATION)

*Two official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended, both undergraduate and graduate.

  • To obtain a Transcript Request Form, click one of the following: View and Print or Type On and Print.
  • International applicants must submit official or attested university records, with certified translations if the records are not in English.
  • Notarized copies are not sufficient.

If you do not pay by credit card, please download a copy of the Application Fee Form that can be accessed from the Electronic Application, and mail along with your payment of the non-refundable application fee to:

APPLICATIONS WITHOUT FEE PAYMENT CANNOT BE PROCESSED.
  • DO NOT SEND CASH.
  • Make checks payable to: The Pennsylvania State University.
  • International money orders or checks must be drawn on a U.S. bank.
  • Your canceled check serves as your receipt.
