Biography
Prasenjit Mitra received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University in September 2004. He received his M.S. degree in computer science from The University of Texas at Austin in December 1994. Prior to that, he obtained his B.Tech (with honors) degree in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in May 1993.
He worked for five years at Oracle Corporation in Redwood Shores, CA, as a senior member of the technical staff at the Server Technologies division developing database software. He has also worked part-time as a senior software engineer at Narus, Inc. and DBWizards.
His research interests are primarily in information extraction and interoperation especially with respect to web information systems, secure information sharing and access control, query optimization, information extraction, the semantic web, and digital libraries.
