Biography
Dongwon Lee has been an assistant professor of Penn State, College of IST, since 2002. He received his B.S. from Korea University in 1993, an M.S. from Columbia University in 1995, and a Ph.D. from UCLA in 2002, all in computer science. In-between obtaining his M.S. and Ph.D., he worked at AT&T Bell Labs from 1995 to 1997. His research interests include database and data modeling, XML and related techniques, Web search and analysis, and bibliometrics. He received the Best Paper Award at the Nineteenth International Conference on Conceptual Modeling (ER 2000), University of California Fellowship in 2002, IBM Eclipse Innovation Award in 2004 and 2006, Microsoft SciData Award in 2005, and First runner-up award of Web Services Competition at IEEE ICEBE 2005, among others.
