Dr. Raj Acharya Elevated to IEEE Fellow

The IEEE Board of Directors, at its November 2009 meeting, elevated Dr. Raj Acharya to IEEE Fellow, effective January 1, 2010, with the following citation:  "for contributions to biomedical imaging and bioinformatics."

Elevation to Fellow is one of the Institute’s most prestigious honors.  Fewer than one tenth of one percent of the members are recommended for this grade each year.

Dr. Raj Acharya is Professor and Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department.  He received his Ph.D. degree from Mayo Graduate School of Medicine/University of Minnesota in 1984.
