Professor Suzanne Shontz Named ONR Summer Faculty Fellow

Suzanne Shontz, assistant professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Penn State, has been named an Office of Naval Research (ONR) Summer Faculty Fellow for summer 2009.  ONR typically awards fellowships to approximately 25% of its applicants in a given year.

Shontz will be collaborating with computational physicists in the Center for Computational Materials Science in the Division of Materials Science and Technology at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C.  Her research will be to develop new numerical optimization algorithms for materials science problems.
