Student Travel Grants (for India-based Students Only)

We are pleased to offer travel grants for India-based students to attend PPoPP-15 (15th ACM SIGPLAN Symposium on Principles and Practice of Parallel Programming) and/or HPCA-16 (16th IEEE International Symposium on High-Performance Computer Architecture), the premier conferences for leading work on parallel programming and architecture, respectively, to be held in Bangalore, India from January 9–14, 2010. These funds are generously provided by various Indian government agencies and Industries.

We encourage students of Indian Institutions to apply for the travel grants and make use of this opportunity to attend the top conferences on highly important fields. The conferences will enable the students to get exposed to state-of-research in the fields and interact with the leading researchers and practitioners.

The travel grants are limited in number and are provided on a merit basis.

Details

The travel grant will include:

1. Two-way 3-tier A.C. train fare (or equivalent) between your college and Bangalore (as per actuals).
2. Shared Accommodation for the period January 9-14, 2010.
3. Conference registration. The registration will enable access to workshops, tutorials and technical sessions of the conference 

Students on travel grants will be asked to provide volunteering services in the conference.

Eligibility requirements

Each student should be enrolled in a postgraduate (M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc/M.Phil/Ph.D.) program in Computer Science or related disciplines such as IT, Software Engineering at an Indian university or educational institution.

Final and pre-final year B.E/B.Tech students are also eligible to apply.

Please note that this grant is available only for students from Indian Educational Institutions.

Application Format

A vita must be sent with the application. The vita must include:

• Educational history including X, XII and all programs till date. For each program, the information should include the institution, department (if undergraduate and above), years, percentage and rank.
• Research interests.
• Projects. For each project, the information should include the organization where the project was carries out, the team size, and a brief description.
• Papers published or presented in national and international conferences or journals. If your paper/poster has been selected for PPoPP/HPCA, include the details of the paper/poster.
• Other academic achievements including conference or workshops attended, academic awards, prizes etc.
• Skills. Programming languages, Operating systems, and other skills known.
• Employment history, if applicable.
• Statement of Intent. A brief statement indicating why attending the meeting would be useful for the student's research or career.
• Preference. Indicate which of the two conferences you want to attend.

Incomplete applications will not be considered for the award.

Selection

A committee will select the recipients based on the evaluation of the application material.

Disbursement of Grant

1. Students will be reimbursed their travel expenses on the last day of the conference. Students will be required to complete the travel reimbursement form available at the registration desk during the conference. They will need to provide the original ticket for the inward journey and also have a photocopy of the ticket for the outward journey. Students are requested not to surrender their ticket at the railway station.
2. All students should also carry a valid photo-identity card issued by their institution.
