Application to the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department

How to apply:

 

The process of applying for admission to graduate school at Penn State requires the following application materials, some of which are submitted to The Graduate School (items 1. and 2. below), and others that should be sent directly to this graduate program (items 3. through 8.):

1. An official GRADUATE SCHOOL ELECTRONIC APPLICATION.
2. Application fee ($45.00 U.S.).
3. Official transcripts (two (2) copies).
4. Application for Visa Document (International Students Only).
5. Standardized test scores (General GRE, Subject Test GRE recommended, TOEFL, and TSE). Please refer to Admissions Requirements.
6. Assistantship/Fellowship application (optional) - (PDF - Fill in and Print Version), (PDF - Print Version) or (Postscript Version).
7. Three letters of recommendation - (PDF - Print Version) or (Postscript Version).
8. Statement of purpose.

The GRADUATE SCHOOL APPLICATION can ONLY be submitted as follows:

• Electronic Application (Application fee is $45.00 U.S.) This format is the ONLY way to apply. Applying electronically (online) reduces the processing time and receipt of your application is assured.

If you do not pay by credit card, please download a copy of the Application Fee Form that can be accessed from the Electronic Application, and mail along with your payment of the non-refundable application fee to:

• DO NOT SEND CASH.
• Make checks payable to: The Pennsylvania State University.
• International money orders or checks must be drawn on a U.S. bank.
• Your canceled check serves as your receipt.

Please complete the following ADDITIONAL REQUIRED FORMS (also in Adobe Acrobat format):

• Two official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended, both undergraduate and graduate.
  • To obtain a Transcript Request Form, click one of the following: View and Print or Type On and Print.
  • International applicants must submit official or attested university records, with certified translations if the records are not in English.
  • Notarized copies are not sufficient.
• Standardized test scores (General GRE, Subject Test GRE recommended, TOEFL, and TSE). Please refer to Admission Requirements.
