Progress in Computing and Information Technology continues to be one of the critical factors driving our well being in the 21st century. It will pervade all aspects of our life including the way we live, work, learn and are entertained. Advances in computing and communications technology will continue to create new infrastructure for business, research and human interaction. A recent provocative New York Times article claimed that 'All Science is Computer Science.'  The President's Information Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC) June 2005 report: 'Computational Science: Ensuring America's Competitiveness' recommends major investment in Computing and Information Technology, and that investment in this crucial field be a National Agenda. 

Computer Science & Engineering at Penn State is highly ranked and has world-renowned faculty. CSE faculty are involved in contributions to the core discipline of computing while addressing critical challenges facing the nation such as health care, energy, social computing, materials, and defense & homeland security.
